A Glimpse In the Life...

I never thought of myself as talented. Artistic. Nah. Not me. But the more I think about what I'm capable of-the more I realize I have a gift not everyone can possess. Going thru stuff today, getting ready for my move, I came across pictures I had drawn over the past few years. Not originals, but drawings recreated of famous works. Mostly of Alfred Gockel-a trully talented artist. I can take almost any artwork of his and recreate it. I'll eventually post my drawings up here when I get them scanned in. But they look identical. As if they were photocopied. I've always asked myself after drawing a piece, "How the heck can I do that!" And it doesn't stop there. Pablo Picasso. Van Gogh. As long as its abstract I can copy it on paper. Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh was by far my most extravagent copy. It was the first artwork I realized I could copy onto my own paper. I realized it back in 11th grade while taking a basic art class. Basic being the keyword. There was nothing Basic when I turned my project in. However the teacher was not impressed and I ended up getting a B. A B! An almost identical copy and I get a B. Would she have given Van Gogh a B-I think not.
However, my talent doesn't stop at drawing/sketching. I can also take photos of landscapes/people. Granted if I had a better camera my photos would be even more amazing. But non the less still amazing with my Kodak EasyShare. Haha. I'm quite amazed at what it can do. Even throw away cameras amaze me. I traveled to Spain and took amazing pictures with them. I suppose its not the camera-its the person taking them. They have an eye.
So as life goes on more things amaze me. My trip up north to see the leaves was beautiful. I had never taken a road trip alone (and I suggest everyone take one), and it was completly unforgettable. I hiked up a mountain to see a waterfall hidden beneath the colors of the trees. And as tiring as it was-it was worth it when I got to the top. Jumping out of the car to walk thru a covered bridge over a river was equally fun. I grabbed my camera and enjoyed the small town I came across on the opposite side. A town unspoiled by the worlds problems. It was simple and peaceful. Relaxing. The most highlighted and anticipated part of my adventure was walking thru Stockbridge, Mass-a town made famous by Norman Rockwell. It was here he got his inspiration for his paintings the last 25 years of his life. Truly unforgettable.

I don't squirm. I flail. Less restrictive, more expressive.
